we are currently working on edition 2 of Visual Anthropology Films, which will take place sometime in spring 2024, for more information and updates please check our instagram page @visanth.films
we welcome various kinds of projects: documentaries, scripted films, pieces that use film in experimental ways, and that question the format - we want to explore the possibilities and the limitations of the medium. We prioritise emerging creators as we want to be a platform to showcase those who are stepping into filmmaking, we are not a commercial film festival.
even though we started off with just films, ideally we want to offer a space to feature more than that, and we aim to hire a venue for our next event that also has space to showcase photography, sound installations or performances - reach out to us with your idea and we will try to make it happen.
anthropology is about learning through exposure to difference and plurality of experience - we are committed to showcasing diversity of creators. We will prioritise those project which we believe have potential to make audience question that otherwise would not be considered.
we are currently running this festival 100% voluntarily and we are unable to pay you commission for your work, but we want to use this platform to give you a chance to show your work, and offer you a point of contact with a broader public. If your submission is successful, your work will be shown at our event and you will have a permanent page on our website, where you can introduce yourself and add links to your other projects or portfolio.
When sending a submission, please send a link to your project / project idea with a description of what it is about and why you think it would be a good addition to the programme. Also, please let us know a bit about yourself and why you decided to submit :)
